I’m Not Your Friend, I’m Your Advocate
I should have known. The year was 2001. I was on the way to work and NPR was doing a story on the “Epidemic of Untreated Pain”. Multiple studies published in journals I don’t read were clear that nationally, pain was not being addressed by physicians and it was a travesty of the highest order. I’m a physician. I stay current in my field of my expertise with meetings and colleagues and readings and I keep up with general medical information the same way every other non-medical person does radio, television, and the internet.
