It Was All Bullshit

If you were from Charlotte North Carolina in the 1980’s you knew three things: NASCAR, Tobacco, and the PTL Club and they all went together, loosely. NASCAR and Tobacco are acquired tastes but one could not help but be fatally drawn to the spectacle of Jim and Tammy Faye Baker and the PTL Club. Even if you were not a true believer, the freak show itself was worth your passing attention. In those days, PTL in Fort Mill South Carolina was the second largest tourist destination resort in the United States, only Disney World in Orland Florida drew more visitors. Wherever people congregate, there is money to be made.
